Ba-Chigai (場違い)
Ba-Chigai (場違い) is a short, meta puzzle-platformer about being completely out of place.
You play as Kimyouna, a strange little enemy NPC who accidentally wandered into a job interview meant for a legendary platform hero… and then deleted him off the map. With the game jam deadline looming and no time to re-rig a new protagonist, the developer (That's me!) makes a desperate choice:
You’re hired—if you can survive 10 test levels.
There’s just one problem.
You’re not built for this.
Kimyouna can’t run fast.
Kimyouna can’t jump high.
And the levels were never designed for an enemy like you.
To succeed, you’ll need to use whatever broken, unfinished, or “forgotten” mechanics the environment offers—moving platforms, strange power-ups, jittery glitches, and even dragging yourself around the level when nothing else works.
Everything in Ba-Chigai is intentionally a little wrong:
-
Mechanics that don’t belong
-
Power-ups you’re incompatible with
-
Bugs turned into features
-
A developer (who is me, myself, and I) who’s clearly running out of time
Made entirely in GDevelop with no tutorials, Ba-Chigai is a playful parody of game jams, deadlines, and the joy of making something weird that somehow still works.
You don’t belong here.
But maybe—just maybe—you can stick the landing.
Created for the Queble's Jam - 2026, intrepreting the theme, "Out of Place".
